Stevan Allred, author of A Simplified Map of the Real World, will read and discuss his work on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Beaverton City Library Conference Room. The New Friends of the Beaverton City Library invite everyone to attend this free program. The reading and discussion will be followed by a book signing, with refreshments provided by New Seasons.
Allred, a Beaverton native, has set his short stories in the fictional town of Renata, Oregon. The 15 linked stories follow the lives of families, loggers, farmers and others in small-town rural Oregon.
“The Art of the Short Story” program will be followed at 3 p.m. by the NFBCL annual meeting. Everyone is invited to stay for an update on the Friends’ project, The Book Corner bookstore, and library news including the expansion of the Murray Scholls branch library.
