A 3-day book and media sale gets underway this week, with hundreds of gently used books, CDs and DVDs in over 30 different categories on sale at great prices. Sale dates are Thursday-Friday-Saturday, Nov. 21-22-23, 2013, in the lobby of the Beaverton City Library. Hours: Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“This is the first time the New Friends of Beaverton City Library have had a 3-day sale and one this large,” said Sharon Van Buren, book sale coordinator. “Tables will be stocked with vintage and collectible books; popular fiction and classic novels; comics; nonfiction including cookbooks, gardening, history, foreign language, business, and more. Teachers and parents will be delighted with the selection of children’s books, from board books through young adult,” she added.
Also featured at the sale will be a 15-volume set of the Complete Works of Charles Dickens, published around 1900 with black-and-white illustrations and introductory notes by the author. The set includes “A Christmas Carol” and other stories, and with its brick red covers, would make a perfect holiday gift for the collector. The set of Dickens’ works is among the items from the Friends’ online store that will be on display and for sale at the event. Customers can purchase the items at the sale, saving time and shipping fees. The complete online store is available on the website — just click on the Amazon logo.
Other specialty items include John F. Kennedy memorabilia; a photograph of Cologne, Germany, July 1945; and an 8-volume Lexis/Nexis 2011 business reference set on sale for $100 or best offer.
Saturday is half-price sale day. All regular sale books, excluding items from the online store inventory, will be HALF PRICE from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Book sale proceeds benefit the Beaverton City Library and the Murray Scholls branch library by funding supplemental programs and equipment.
